How To Create Your Own Branded Product (OEM)
A short guide from idea to finished product.
By Admin Sari Tani
Many entrepreneurs have a herbal product idea but don't know where to start. With OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer), you don't need to build your own factory — you bring the idea and the brand, and the manufacturer makes the product.
1. Concept discussion
Share your product idea, target market, budget and timeline. This is when the product category is set — traditional, OTC, supplement, food or cosmetic — because it decides the registration route.
2. Formulation and samples
The manufacturer develops a new formula or reviews your existing one, then prepares samples for evaluation. Adjustments are made until you are happy with the result.
3. Design and packaging
Decide the dosage form, size, packaging materials and label design. Packaging is one of the most important aspects of marketing a new product.
4. Registration and compliance
NPRA registration documents (MAL or cosmetic notification) and halal requirements are prepared. Labels must meet the requirements of your product category.
5. Production
Once approved, the product is manufactured and packed in a GMP certified factory to the agreed formula and specifications.
6. Quality check and delivery
Every batch is checked before it is handed over to you, ready for market.
