There are so many cosmetics and medicines on the market today, whether sold at pharmacies, mall kiosks or online. As smart consumers who want to use products that are not harmful, we should make sure those products are approved and registered with the Ministry of Health Malaysia's authorities.

Where can you check a product's registration?

The authorities provide an online service to check whether a product on the market is registered. If it is registered, you can keep using it. If it is not in the records, the product is not registered.

It is now the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA), and product searches are made through its official site, npra.gov.my. Registered medicines, traditional products and supplements carry a MAL number, while cosmetics carry a notification number. See also the difference between traditional, OTC and cosmetic products.
