Not every halal logo is genuine. Learn how to check the halal status of products and premises through JAKIM's official channels.

Like you, we are consumers who care about the cleanliness of food products and premises in Malaysia. So when we buy processed food or eat at a restaurant, we naturally look for a halal logo. But don't be fooled easily — not every halal logo is genuine or recognised by the responsible body.
Who issues halal certificates in Malaysia?
In Malaysia, halal certificates are monitored and issued by the Department of Islamic Development Malaysia (JAKIM). Make sure the halal logo on food packaging or at a restaurant is one recognised by JAKIM.
How do you check halal status?
What if an irresponsible producer or restaurant uses a halal logo without permission? Don't worry — JAKIM provides an online service to check halal status at any time. Visit halal.gov.my on your computer or smartphone.
The site also has plenty of other useful information. An official smartphone app is available too if you want to check halal status quickly while shopping.
